Database merges happen when two organizations —banks, firms, institutions, private health insurance companies— merge and have their own databases, which are hosted on the same or different applications.
All databases have to be merged, which technically requires to:
- reassign ID numbers in order to make them consistent and unique.
- standardize settings
- deduplicate people, companies, third parties…
If management systems are different, it is necessary to previously migrate the data to a shared system.
In many cases, it is also necessary to take into account the ‘private gardens’ or application features of each organization
